TOTO THU861-A – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the TOTO THU861-A part?
THU861-A is a TOTO flush valve tower assembly for a one-piece toilet. It is a toilet tank repair part, not a complete flush valve kit for every TOTO model, so match the part number to what your tank calls out before ordering.
2) Will the THU861-A flush valve tower fit a two-piece TOTO toilet?
No. The THU861-A tower is specified for a one-piece TOTO toilet. Two-piece models use a different tank casting and a different valve assembly, so this part should not be ordered as a substitute for one. For a maintenance program, record the tank model number off the inside of the tank lid or the back of the tank and order the tower TOTO lists for that specific model.
3) Is the TOTO THU861-A a flush valve or just the fill valve?
It is the flush valve side of the tank, the tower that releases water into the bowl. It is not the fill valve that refills the tank after the flush. If your toilet runs continuously the flush valve tower or its seal is usually the culprit; if the tank is slow to refill or won't shut off at the fill line, you need the fill valve instead.
4) Do I need to order anything else with the THU861-A to finish the repair?
The THU861-A is the flush valve tower assembly only. A tank rebuild typically also means a fill valve, a supply line, and tank-to-bowl hardware on a two-piece unit, and those are ordered separately. If you are only chasing a running toilet on a one-piece TOTO, the tower alone is usually the fix.
5) Does the TOTO THU861-A come in different finishes?
No finish choice applies. The flush valve tower sits inside the tank where it is never seen, so THU861-A is supplied as a single part number with no finish options.
