Hasp 200/135 C

Durable and solid: Our 200 hasp provides excellent protection against theft in combination with a padlock.

SOLID HASP

Our 200 hasp is a solid and durable standard hasp that comes in different sizes.

If you want to protect flush doors (for example, yard gates, cellar doors, etc.) from unauthorized access, but can’t simply hang a padlock, we recommend our 200 hasp. Thanks to the hardened steel staple and the concealed screws, which offer almost no attackable surface, the hasp is significantly more difficult to break open.

Technology:

  • Corrosion protected
  • Steel construction
  • Hidden screws

Operation and use:

  • Designed for doors closing flush, i.e. door leaf and door frame are level
  • To be used with a padlock

ABUS 200/135 C – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the ABUS 200/135 hasp work on a door that closes flush with the frame?
That is exactly the opening it's built for. The 200 series hasp is designed for doors closing flush, where the door leaf and the frame sit level with each other and there's no lip or offset to hang a padlock from. Yard gates, cellar doors, and outbuilding doors are the typical use. If your door and frame are level and you've had no way to get a padlock on it, this is the fitting that gives you a shackle point. On an offset or rabbeted opening where the leaf stands proud of the frame, a flush-mount hasp like this won't sit right.
2) Can the ABUS 200/135 hasp be unscrewed by someone trying to break in?
The mounting screws are concealed once the hasp is closed and locked, so there's no screw head presented to a driver while the padlock is on. ABUS pairs that with a hardened steel staple, which is the part a pry bar or bolt cutter goes after first. Between the two there's very little attackable surface with the lock engaged. It still comes down to what you're fastening into, so use a solid substrate on both the leaf and the frame.
3) Is the ABUS 200 hasp OK for outdoor use on a gate or cellar door?
It's a corrosion protected steel hasp with a zinc plated finish, which is the standard treatment for exterior gate and outbuilding duty. Steel construction throughout. For coastal or heavily washed-down locations, expect zinc plating to need more attention over time than stainless would.
4) What is the difference between the ABUS 200/135 and the other sizes in the 200 hasp range?
The 200 is a single hasp design offered in several sizes, and 135 is the size designation on this one. When you order, the model to specify is 200/135. If you're matching an existing hasp on other doors in a building, go by that number rather than by the 200 series alone, since the series covers more than one size.
5) Do I need a separate strike or keeper to install an ABUS 200 hasp?
No extra parts. The 200/135 ships as a hasp and staple set, so both halves of the assembly are in the box, hasp for the leaf and staple for the frame. What you add is the padlock and the fasteners suited to your door and frame material.
6) Is the ABUS 200/135 hasp rated for commercial or just residential use?
Commercial duty. It's the same fitting a property manager or facilities crew would put on storage rooms, yard gates, and cellar accesses across a site, and because it's a single model rather than a handed or sized range, standardizing on it across multiple openings is straightforward.
