That matters most on keyed-alike systems: swapping the whole padlock means a new key, while a new shackle keeps the existing keying on the opening. If the body or cylinder is damaged, replace the padlock instead.
2) Will the ABUS 8009 shackle fit a padlock from another brand like Master Lock or American Lock?
No. The 8009 is machined to ABUS tolerances for the 83/45 and 83/55 bodies, and shackle diameter, heel and toe spacing and locking notch geometry differ by manufacturer. For a non-ABUS padlock you need that maker's own service shackle.
3) What shackle length options are available for the ABUS 83/45 padlock?
