This lockout device is used to keep multi-pole circuit breakers turned off during maintenance work. To do this, the lockout device is clamped into the open space under the bridge over the switches; then the adjustment wheel grips the device and therefore blocks the switch off. The non-conductive circuit breaker lockout can be used to lock out multi-pole circuit breakers. Up to two padlocks can be attached simultaneously.

1) Will the ABUS E202 lockout work on a three-pole or four-pole breaker, or only two-pole?
The E202 is built for multi-pole breakers generally, two-, three-, or four-pole. It reaches behind the switch bar and blocks the toggles from being thrown back on, so a ganged breaker handle bar is exactly the case it is made for. For a single-pole breaker you want a dedicated single-pole lockout instead.
2) How many padlocks can be fitted to the ABUS E202 breaker lockout, and what shackle size does it take?
Two padlocks can go on at once, with shackle diameters up to 9/32 inch. That covers a two-person lockout on the same breaker without needing a separate hasp. If more than two workers need their own lock on the device, add a lockout hasp through one of the holes.
3) Is the ABUS E202 a lock, or do I have to buy padlocks separately?
The E202 is the lockout body only, not a lock. It holds the breaker off and gives you the holes; you supply the safety padlocks. Pick padlocks with a shackle diameter of 9/32 inch or less so they pass through, and use keyed-different locks if each worker is applying their own.
4) Is the ABUS E202 circuit breaker lockout non-conductive?
It is. The body is a dielectric plastic, so the device itself is non-conductive when it is clamped into the panel next to live gear. That is the reason to use a purpose-made lockout here rather than improvising with a metal clamp.
5) How does the E202 lockout attach to the breaker, and does it need any tools?
