1) Will the Accentra 2110 exit device fit my wide stile aluminum door?
The 2110 is built for wide stile openings and needs a stile of 4-1/2 inches to mount on. Measure the vertical stile at the lock edge of the door: anything narrower than 4-1/2 inches calls for a narrow stile device instead. It is sized for a 36 inch wide door leaf.
2) Can I use the Accentra 2110 on a fire rated door opening?
No. The 2110 is a non-fire-rated device, so it cannot go on a labeled fire door assembly. For a fire opening you need the fire rated version of the family, the 2110F, which is covered by the same Accentra surface vertical rod installation instructions.
3) Does the Accentra 2110 come with outside trim, or do I order a lever separately?
Exit only. The 2110 gives you push-pad egress from the inside with no outside operating trim, so there is no key or lever entry from the pull side unless you add trim. Accentra/Yale exit device trim is ordered separately and must match the device.
4) How does a surface vertical rod device like the 2110 secure a pair of doors, and when should I use a rim device with a mullion instead?
A surface vertical rod device latches top and bottom: a deadlocking top Pullman bolt into the frame head and a bottom deadbolt into the threshold or floor strike. That two-point latching lets a pair of doors be secured without a center mullion, which is why it gets specified on pairs. If you have a single door, or a pair where you can live with a removable mullion, a rim device with a single latch into a strike is simpler to install and has no bottom rod to foul on the floor. Where sweeping debris or an uneven floor is a problem, a less-bottom-rod device such as the 2170LBR in the same family is the usual answer.
5) Do I have to specify left hand or right hand when ordering the Accentra 2110?
Yes, handing is a selection on the 2110: it is ordered either LH left hand or RH right hand. Determine handing from the outside of the door, standing on the pull side, and note which edge the hinges are on before you order.
6) What finishes does the Accentra 2110 exit device come in for matching other doors in the building?
Seven finishes are offered on the 2110: 689 aluminum painted, 691 light bronze painted, 693 black painted, 695 dark bronze painted, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze equivalent, BSP black suede powder coat, and WSP white suede powder coat. 689 and 695 are the two that usually match existing storefront and hollow metal openings.
7) Can the Accentra 2110 be held unlatched during business hours?
The 2110 is furnished with hex key dogging, so a maintenance tech can hold the push pad depressed and both bolts retracted with a hex wrench for free push-pull traffic during open hours, then undog it at close. Note that dogging is not permitted on a fire rated opening, and the 2110 is not a fire rated device.
8) Is the Accentra 2110 rated for high traffic commercial use?
It carries ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 performance, the highest of the three grades and what an institutional spec normally calls for on entrances, stairs, and corridor pairs. It uses Yale SquareBolt rim latch technology on the top bolt. It is positioned as the economy device in the Accentra 2100 Series while still meeting Grade 1.
9) Will the bottom bolt on the Accentra 2110 drag or stay down when the door opens?
No. The linkage keeps both bolts retracted once the pad is pushed, and they stay retracted until the door closes again, so the bottom deadbolt is not riding the floor while the door swings.
