1) Can I put the Accentra 2110F exit device on a wood door?
No. The 2110F is specified for metal doors and is not rated as wood door compatible. For a wood fire door opening you will need a device listed for wood door application.
2) Is the Accentra 2110F fire rated for a labeled opening?
Yes, the 2110F is the fire rated version of the Accentra 2100 Series surface vertical rod device. The F in the model number is what separates it from the non-fire 2110. On a labeled opening you also cannot use dogging, since fire rated exit devices must latch every time the door closes.
3) Do I need a mullion to use the Accentra 2110F on a pair of doors?
No mullion needed. As a surface vertical rod device, the 2110F latches into the head frame at the top and into the floor or threshold strike at the bottom, so it secures each leaf of a pair on its own. That is the main reason to choose vertical rod over a rim device, which latches into a strike on a mullion or into the adjacent door's stile.
4) Does the Accentra 2110F come with a lever or pull on the outside?
It does not. The 2110F is an exit only device, meaning there is no outside trim and no key cylinder in the package. Push the pad from the inside to get out; from the outside the door is simply pulled. If you need keyed or lever entry from the corridor side, you order Accentra/Yale exit device trim separately and select a function that accepts it.
5) What do I have to specify when ordering the Accentra 2110F?
Two choices: handing and finish. Handing is left hand or right hand. Finishes are 613E dark oxidized satin bronze equivalent, 630 satin stainless steel, 689 aluminum painted, 691 light bronze painted, 693 black painted, 695 dark bronze painted, BSP black suede powder coat, and WSP white suede powder coat. Every finish is offered in both hands. Trim, if you want any, is a separate line.
6) How do the top and bottom bolts on the 2110F work when the door is held open?
Both bolts stay retracted once the device is pushed and remain held back until the door closes again, so the leaf swings free without the rods dragging on the sill. The top is a deadlocking Pullman bolt driven by positive action linkage, and the bottom is a simultaneous direct pull deadbolt, so both points throw together when the door shuts.
7) Will the Accentra 2110F meet a Grade 1 spec on a commercial drawing?
Yes. The 2100 Series carries ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 performance, which is the heavy duty commercial rating specifiers call out for schools, healthcare, and high traffic office and retail egress doors. Combined with the fire rating, it covers labeled hollow metal openings in those buildings.
8) I am replacing an old vertical rod device on a 36 inch metal fire door. Will the 2110F drop into the existing prep?
Plan on templating it fresh rather than assuming a drop in. The 2110F ships with Accentra's own templates and the installation instructions covering the 2110(F), 2170(F)(LBR) and 1810(F) surface vertical rod devices, and the mounting hole pattern and strike locations should be marked from those before drilling. Existing holes from another brand rarely line up, and on a fire door any unused prep has to be addressed properly.
9) What is the difference between the Accentra 2110F and the 2170F LBR?
Both are surface vertical rod devices in the same family and share one set of installation instructions. The LBR in 2170F LBR stands for less bottom rod, meaning the bottom rod and floor strike are deleted and the device latches only at the head. That is the choice when you have a dirty or uneven floor, a carpeted threshold, or you just want to stop tripping the bottom bolt. The 2110F is the full two point version, latching top and bottom.
