Steel City SSF-TCB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the Steel City SSF-TCB clip used for?
The SSF-TCB is an acoustical ceiling tile clip, a steel support clip used to attach to suspended ceiling grid so electrical work can be hung from the ceiling system rather than from the tile itself. Steel City lists it as a hanger for trapezoidal ceiling.
2) What finish is on the SSF-TCB ceiling tile clip, and will it rust in a plenum?
The clip is steel with a black zinc phosphate surface finish, which is a conversion coating that gives light corrosion resistance and a black appearance. That makes it suited to dry interior ceiling cavities and plenum spaces. For wet, washdown, or corrosive environments, specify a clip with a heavier protective coating.
3) Is the SSF-TCB sold individually or in a box?
The SSF-TCB is sold each, so quantity on an order is the number of individual clips. On a ceiling job that means counting a clip per support point and ordering to that number.
4) What is the manufacturer part number for the Steel City acoustical ceiling tile clip?
The part number is SSF-TCB from Steel City. That is the only model on the clip, so there are no size, finish, or handing choices to specify when ordering it.
5) Does the SSF-TCB clip come with screws or any other mounting hardware?
The SSF-TCB is the clip only. It is a one-piece steel ceiling tile clip, so any fasteners, hanger wire, rod, or box support used with it are separate line items on the order.
