Description of System Operation
The delayed egress alarm becomes activated when
the push bar of the Series 1500 modified exit device is
depressed. A concealed AE (request-to-exit) switch initiates
an irreversible cycle that begins with the Series 1300
audible alarm sounding for a predetermined time (field
adjustable) while the Series 3700 electromagnetic lock
remains energized locking the door.
At the end of the timing cycle, the electromagnetic lock
de-energizes and unlocks the door while the audible alarm
continues sounding. The door will remain unlocked and
in an alarm state until manually reset by the Series 1300
keyswitch. Resetting the system will lock the door by
energizing the electromagnetic lock and will turn off the
audible alarm.
When using the system with a door position switch,
the door must be fully closed prior to resetting the
system. Resetting with the door open will energize the
electromagnetic lock, but will not turn off the audible alarm.
The audible alarm will also begin sounding if a forced entry
occurs while the system is armed.
In the event of a fire alarm, the electromagnetic lock will
immediately de-energize to unlock the door. Upon resetting
the fire alarm, the system will return to normal standby
operation.

ACSI 1490-21 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the 1490 24VDC, and how much lock load will it carry?
Output is filtered, unregulated 24VDC with a 2A load capacity. That capacity is what decides how many mag locks you can hang on one unit, and a single 1490 can cover up to 4 delayed egress alarm zones.
2) Will the ACSI 1490 release the door on a fire alarm?
Yes. The 1490 has a fire alarm interface, and on a fire alarm signal the electromagnetic lock de-energizes immediately to unlock the door. Once the fire alarm is reset, the system returns to normal standby. It is UL Listed and the maker states compliance with NFPA code requirements for delayed egress.
3) Does the delayed egress alarm reset itself or does staff have to reset it manually?
Standard operation is manual reset at the Series 1300 keyswitch, which re-energizes the mag lock and silences the audible alarm. The 1490 adds the input for delayed egress activation, the irreversible timing cycle, the audible alarm output, the fire alarm interface and the reset function that a code-compliant delayed egress opening requires. Use a BPS or BPSM where you just need filtered lock power; use the 1490 where the door is a delayed egress door.
5) Can a Securitron BPS linear power supply be used in place of the ACSI 1490 for a delayed egress opening?
No. The ACSI 1490 is a delayed egress power supply built to interface with ACSI electromagnetic locks in a delayed egress locking application, with an input for delayed egress activation, manual reset of the delayed egress alarm, an output for an audible alarm, and field adjustable delay times for nuisance alarm, door release, request-to-exit and auto reset. The Securitron BPS is a linear box power supply, so it provides power but does not carry the delayed egress timing and reset logic the sequence depends on. For a delayed egress zone, the 1490 does the work; a BPS suits an opening where you only need DC power to a lock.
6) Which timing functions on the 1490 can be adjusted in the field?

7) What is the difference between the 1490-21, -22, -23 and -24?

9) Will the alarm sound if someone forces the door rather than pushing the bar?
Yes. With the system armed, a forced entry starts the audible alarm, the same as a push bar activation would. The door then stays in the alarm state until the Series 1300 keyswitch reset is used.

Yes. The ACSI 1490 is a delayed egress power supply whose value is in the irreversible timing cycle, the audible alarm output, and the keyswitch reset. If the opening has no delayed egress requirement, a straight linear supply such as the Securitron BPS box power supply covers the need. Keep the 1490 where the exit device request-to-exit switch has to start a timed release with an alarm and manual reset.
12) Does the ACSI 1490 handle the fire alarm release, or do I need a separate supervised supply like the Securitron BPSM?
The ACSI 1490 includes a fire alarm interface: on a fire alarm the electromagnetic lock immediately de-energizes to unlock the door, and when the fire alarm is reset the system returns to normal standby operation. That release function is built into the 1490 itself, so it does not require a self-monitoring supply such as the Securitron BPSM to accomplish it.
