1) What happens to the ACSI M1510M mortise lock when power is lost?
It unlocks. The M1510M is set up fail safe: outside trim is locked when power is applied (storeroom function while energized) and unlocked when power is removed, so the lever becomes passage in a power failure. That is what makes it usable on stairtower and controlled-area doors that have to release for egress under life-safety codes. On motor controlled locks the fail safe / fail secure mode is user selectable in the field, so the same lock can be flipped to fail secure if the opening calls for it.
2) Will the ACSI M1510M fit my door, and do I have to specify handing?
It is built for 1-3/4 inch doors with a 2-3/4 inch backset and needs at least a 4-1/2 inch stile. The lock front is 8 x 1-1/4 inches and the case is 7/64 inch thick, with 2-5/8 inch projection off the face of the door. Handing is not an ordering decision here: the lock is reversible and uses a one piece anti-friction reversible latch, so one part covers left and right hand openings.
3) Will the M1510M latch into the strike already in my frame?
The latchbolt is 5/8 x 1 inch with a 3/4 inch throw, and the lock is supplied with a curved lip strike measuring 4-7/8 x 3/32 inches with a 1-1/4 inch lip. If your existing frame is prepped for a standard ANSI mortise strike of that size, the bolt lines up; if the old strike is a flat lip or a different cutout, plan on swapping to the strike that comes with the lock.
4) What voltage and current does the ACSI 1500 Series electric mortise lock need?
It runs on 12 to 24VAC or VDC, drawing 250mA inrush and 10mA holding at either 12 or 24 volts. It is continuous duty rated with low power consumption, so a small filtered supply will carry several openings. Size the supply for the inrush figure, not the holding figure.
5) Does a cylinder come with the ACSI M1510M-1-8205 mortise lock?
No. It ships less cylinder, so you order the mortise cylinder separately and key it to your building's system. That is normally the point of the LC option on a jobsite: the locksmith supplies a mortise cylinder in the facility's existing keyway and cam.
