The Adams Rite 1870 Series Cylinder-Operated Flushbolt provides building management with key control of the inactive leaf on paired narrow stile aluminum doors. This professional-grade flushbolt prevents unauthorized locking with a 360° key operation that throws or retracts the hexagonal 3/8" bolt with 11/16" throw. The steel case with corrosion-resistant plating measures 1" x 6" x depth and accepts any standard 1" length mortise cylinder with MS cam.

Installation & Operation

  1. Review manufacturer specifications and verify door preparation requirements including door thickness, stile width, and cylinder backset compatibility (31/32" or 1-1/8") for this flushbolt.
  2. Use manufacturer-provided templates to mark mounting hole locations accurately on door and determine installation position at threshold or header as required.
  3. Prepare door by drilling required holes and routing as specified in manufacturer instructions for the selected backset configuration.
  4. Install flushlock mechanism with actuator arm and attach rod/bolt assembly per manufacturer specifications using provided mounting screws.
  5. Install mortise cylinder (sold separately) such as 4036 Mortise Cylinder or 4066 Thumbturn with MS cam from either or both sides as needed.
  6. Test 360° key operation to verify proper bolt throw and retraction, ensuring key can only be removed when bolt is in positively locked or unlocked position. Refer to manufacturer documentation for complete installation details and troubleshooting.
