1) Will the Adams Rite 7400A electric strike work with my Adams Rite 4500 deadlatch?
Yes. The 7400A Ultraline strike body kit is built for Adams Rite 4500, 4700, and 4900 deadlatches, and it also works with cylindrical locksets as long as the latchbolt projects 1/2 inch to 5/8 inch. That projection range is the thing to check on a cylindrical lock: if the latch throws shorter or longer than that window, the keeper will not capture it correctly.
2) Do I order the 7400A or the 7401A for a pair of aluminum doors?
Pairs take the 7401A, which has a radius body sized for that application. The 7400A is the standard body and is the one to order for single door openings. Same strike otherwise, so the choice comes down to the opening.
3) Can the 7400A strike be set to fail safe, or do I have to order it that way?
Field selectable, both ways. The 7400A ships so the installer sets fail safe or fail secure at the door, along with 12 or 24 VDC, so one part number covers an egress opening that has to release on power loss and a secured opening that has to stay locked. In fail secure mode it holds over 1,500 lbs.
4) What power supply do I need for an Adams Rite 7400A electric strike?
Either 12 or 24 VDC, selected in the field. Budget 0.44A at 12 VDC or 0.23A at 24 VDC per strike when you size the supply. 5) How much room do I need in the jamb for an Adams Rite 7400A strike?

6) Is the Adams Rite 7400A Grade 1 and UL listed?
Yes, ANSI/BHMA A156.31 Grade 1, and listed to UL 1034 and UL 294. The keepers are stainless steel and the strike is rated over 1,500 lbs holding force. Note it is not a fire rated strike, so it should not go on a fire door assembly.
7) Can I use an electric strike on a fire rated door opening?
Not this one. The 7400A carries no fire rating, so on a labeled fire door assembly you need a strike specifically listed for fire doors, which is normally a fail secure only unit. The 7400A is for non-rated commercial openings, where its field selectable fail safe mode is available.
8) I am replacing an Adams Rite MS deadlock strike prep with an electric strike. Does the 7400A cover the old cutout?
Use the 7430 or 7431 for that. Those models carry a 6-7/8 inch faceplate that covers an MS Deadlock strike prep conversion, so you are not filling or replating the jamb. The plain 7400A and 7401A bodies do not have that extended faceplate. Lip extension kits are also offered to handle different door centerline to jamb dimensions.
9) Do I need to know the handing before ordering a 7400A electric strike?
No. The 7400A is non-handed, so one kit covers left hand and right hand openings. For a property manager standardizing across a building, that means a single part number on the shelf instead of two, with the fail safe or fail secure choice made at each door.

Spacers are brand and series specific, so a Trine plate does not go on an Adams Rite body.
