The MS1850S blank faceplate comes in two edge profiles: flat and radius. Both are stocked in 628 clear anodized and 313 dark bronze anodized. Match the profile to the stile edge you are working on, because a flat plate will not sit properly against a radius edge and vice versa.
2) What size is the Adams Rite MS1850S faceplate and will it cover the existing cutout?
The faceplate measures 1 x 6-7/8 inches, which is the standard MS1850S deadlock faceplate footprint. If the door was originally prepped for an MS1850S, the plate drops into the same pocket without new machining.
3) Is this an Adams Rite deadlock or just the faceplate?

6) What is a blank faceplate used for on an MS1850S deadlock?
Blank means no cylinder hole and no thumbturn cutout. It is used where you want the lock body in the stile but no keyed access on that face, or where an old plate is scarred or wrong-finish and you are re-covering the prep clean. If you need a keyed face, you need a cylinder-drilled plate instead, sized for the standard 1-5/32 inch mortise cylinder with MS cam.
7) Do I need to worry about handing when ordering an MS1850S faceplate?
No handing to specify. The MS1850S deadlock is field reversible, and the faceplate is symmetrical about the bolt opening, so the same plate serves left- and right-hand doors. Pick edge profile and finish only.
