1) Does the Adams Rite 8650 cylinder escutcheon kit fit a 1-3/4 inch door?
Yes. The 8650 comes with a 1/4 inch trim ring, which is sized for a standard 1-3/4 inch door. If your door is thicker or thinner, the trim ring thickness is what changes, and custom thicknesses are made for that. The escutcheon and cylinder stay the same.
2) I am keying a whole building of storefront doors the same. Can I order Adams Rite 8650 kits keyed alike?
Keyed alike is available three ways on the 8650: keyed alike pairs, keyed different, and keyed alike sets of 50. The set of 50 is what a property manager or facility buyer uses to put one key across a large run of storefront doors. Every cylinder comes with two keys.
3) What finishes does the Adams Rite 8650 escutcheon come in?
Three: aluminum clear anodized, anodized dark bronze, and black anodized. Those are the standard storefront finishes, so matching the existing door frames and pulls on the rest of the building is usually a case of picking the anodize that is already there.
4) Our storefront cylinders keep getting wrenched out. Is there a way to protect the Adams Rite 8650?
An optional hardened steel vandal-proof guard is offered with the 8650. It stops the cylinder being twisted or pulled out of the escutcheon, which is the usual attack on an exposed storefront cylinder. It is an add-on, so it has to be ordered separately from the base kit.
5) Is the Adams Rite 8650 a lock, or just the outside plate?
It is the escutcheon plate plus a mortise cylinder and trim ring, not a complete lock. The escutcheon mounts on the face of the door and holds the cylinder that operates an Adams Rite lock or latch already mortised into the stile. If you do not have a lock or latch in the door, this kit alone will not secure it.
6) How many keys come with the Adams Rite 8650 cylinder kit?
Two keys per cylinder. On a keyed alike order that means two keys cut to the same bitting per door, so a pair of entrance doors keyed alike arrives with four working keys on one key change.
