1) Will an Adams Rite MS1861 deadbolt work on a tempered glass door with no stile?
That is what the MS1861 was built for. It mounts in the bottom rail rather than the vertical stile, so it works on ultra-narrow stile doors that have no room for a conventional stile-mounted lock and on all-glass doors where there is no stile at all. The case is compact at 1 x 6 x 1-13/16 inches, which is what lets it sit in a bottom rail. If your door has a normal narrow or medium aluminum stile with vertical room to spare, a stile-mounted MS deadlock is the more common choice.
2) What is the difference between the vertical bolt only and the vertical and horizontal bolt MS1861?
Two configurations. The vertical-bolt version throws down into the threshold only. The vertical-and-horizontal version throws down into the threshold and sideways into the jamb, so the door is locked on two axes instead of one. The horizontal version is the MS1861-02 configuration and it needs extra jamb holes drilled on top of the threshold prep. Pick the two-bolt version where you want the leaf pulled against the jamb as well as pinned at the floor.
3) What size hole do I drill in the threshold for an Adams Rite MS1861 bottom rail deadbolt?
Strike holes in the threshold are 7/16 inch. The MS1861-02 configuration also needs jamb holes drilled for the horizontal bolt. Use the manufacturer template to lay out the case mounting holes in the bottom rail before you cut the threshold, because the threshold hole has to line up with the bolt centerline, not with the case edge.

On a storefront the case is largely buried in the bottom rail, so the finish call usually comes down to matching the cylinder collar and the rest of the door hardware. US32D is the standard match for most anodized aluminum and stainless storefront packages.
8) How do I know the MS1861 deadbolt is actually locked before I leave the store?
The key turns a full 360 degrees, and the key can only be withdrawn in the fully locked or fully unlocked position. So if the key comes out, the bolt is all the way home or all the way retracted, never partway. That is the check to teach a closing employee on a retail entrance.
