The GT-2H is an audio/video tenant sub-master station for the GT-2C master station. It is equipped with a Talk, Door Release, and optional Service Button. Up to three of the GT-2H sub masters can be added to a GT-2C master giving the tenant station-to-station communication ability. When a visitor calls, the tenant stations ring and video is present. The call is answered by one touch of the Talk button. A handset (GT-HS) can be added to the unit if additional privacy is required. The unit features a 3.5" color LCD monitor and a PTZ control button for the camera

1) Can the Aiphone GT-2H be used on its own as a door station system?
No. The GT-2H is a sub master station that only works as an add-on to a GT-2C master station. It has no standalone system function, so the GT-2C has to be part of the installation first. Once it is, up to three GT-2H units can hang off a single GT-2C to give the tenant extra answering points.
2) How many Aiphone GT-2H sub stations can I add to one GT-2C master?
Three. That is the ceiling per GT-2C master station, and it covers a second and third answering point inside one residence or business unit. The GT-2H units also talk to each other and to the master, so you get station-to-station intercom within the unit on top of answering the entrance.
3) Does the Aiphone GT-2H show video from the entrance station, or is it audio only?
It shows video. The GT-2H carries a 3-1/2 inch color LCD and video comes up on it when a visitor calls the unit. There is also a PTZ control button so the tenant can pan, tilt and zoom the entrance camera digitally while they are talking.
4) What box do I need to rough in for an Aiphone GT-2H?
A 3-gang box, surface mounted, is the wall-mount arrangement for the GT-2H. If the tenant wants it on a desk instead of the wall, it takes an MCW-S/A desk mount stand, which is a separate order.
5) What wire does an Aiphone GT-2H run on?
Two conductor, solid, non-shielded with PE insulation. Aiphone calls out its own #872002 or #871802 for the run. It is a non-polarized style two-wire intercom cable, not Cat5, so plan the pathway accordingly before you pull.
6) Can a tenant answer the Aiphone GT-2H hands free, or do they have to pick something up?
Both are available. The GT-2H answers hands-free by VOX or in push-to-talk simplex mode, and a single touch of the Talk button picks up the call. Where a tenant wants a private conversation instead of open speaker, the GT-HS handset can be added to the unit.
7) What buttons are on the Aiphone GT-2H, and can it release the door?
Talk and Door Release are standard, plus an optional Service button. Door release is operated right from the sub station, so a tenant answering at the back office or second floor does not have to walk to the master to let someone in.
8) Can I trigger a light, gate, or other device from an Aiphone GT-2H?
Yes. The secondary option button on the GT-2H closes a normally open dry contact on the back of the unit, which is what you wire an external device to. Your contractor supplies the relay or controller for whatever is being switched; the station only provides the contact closure.
9) Is the Aiphone GT-2H suitable for a commercial building, or is it a residential product?
It is classified as commercial and belongs to the GT Series, which is Aiphone's multi-tenant intercom platform. In practice it gets used wherever one tenant space needs more than one answering point, in an apartment, a condo unit, or a business suite in a multi-tenant building.
