1) What comes in the Aiphone GTA-DESB entrance panel kit?
The GTA-DESB is a pre-assembled audio entrance panel for the Aiphone GT Series. It ships with the GT-DB audio module, the GT-NSB digital display and directory, the GT-10K keypad for direct dialing and access control, the GF-3F frame and the GF-3B flush back box. That covers the whole door station for a flush install, so the only things you add are the system power supplies, the bus control unit and the tenant stations.
2) Can the Aiphone GTA-DESB be surface mounted instead of flush?
Yes. The kit ships with the GF-3B flush back box, but if you cannot cut into the wall you surface mount it using the steel GT-103HB surface mount box instead.
3) How many apartments can an Aiphone GT system with this entrance panel handle?
The GT system supports up to 500 tenant stations, with a maximum of 4 tenant stations per unit. You can run up to 16 entry panels and up to 4 concierge stations on one system, so a property with several lobby and garage doors can share one directory.
4) What power supply does the Aiphone GTA-DESB need?
It runs on 24V DC from Aiphone PS-2420UL supplies. The number of PS-2420UL units depends on how big the system is, so size them against your panel, concierge and tenant station count rather than assuming one will cover the building.
5) What wire do I run to an Aiphone GT audio entrance panel, and how far can it go?
Audio runs on 2-conductor PE insulated, non-shielded cable, Aiphone #872002, rated 11.05 pf/ft. Distance limits are measured from the GT-BC bus control unit: 980 feet to the farthest entrance panel and 980 feet to the farthest audio tenant station. Two conductors only, so no home run per apartment.
6) Does the Aiphone GTA-DESB include video, or is it audio only?
Audio only. Communication is hands-free from the entrance panel to the tenant station, with no camera module in the kit. If you need the visitor's image at the apartment, you want a GT video entrance panel instead of the GTA-DESB.
7) Can residents and staff get in with a code on the Aiphone GTA-DESB?
Yes. The included GT-10K keypad does direct dialing of a tenant by number and also handles access control, so a resident or a service tech can punch a code at the panel rather than being buzzed in.
8) Can I put my building name and a tenant directory on the entrance panel screen?
The GT-NSB module gives the panel a VFD screen that shows a customizable greeting message, the tenant directory and system status. Visitors scroll the directory at the door instead of you maintaining an engraved nameplate strip, which is the usual reason property managers move off a button-per-unit panel.
9) Is the Aiphone GTA-DESB suitable for a commercial or multi-tenant building?
It is built for commercial multi-tenant use, and that is where the 500-station capacity and 16-panel limit matter. For a single-family house it is far more system than the job needs.
