1) Can the Aiphone KB-3HRD be used on its own, or does it need a master station?
The KB-3HRD is a sub monitor and won't run a system by itself. It has to be paired with a KB-3MRD master monitor. Once it's on the system it does everything the master does, including video monitoring, call-in with image, and two-way talk.
2) How many Aiphone KB-3HRD sub monitors can I add to one KB-3MRD system?
Up to four sub monitors per system. If a building needs more answering points than that, the KB system tops out and you'd need to look at a larger Aiphone platform.
3) Can the KB-3HRD sub monitor sit on a desk instead of being mounted to the wall?
Both work. It surface mounts directly to the wall out of the box, and for a desk setup you add the MCW-S/A desk mount stand, which is a separate order.
4) Can a tenant release the door from the KB-3HRD sub station?
Door release from the sub monitor is an option, not standard. Selective door release requires the RY-3DL relay module, ordered separately. Without it the sub monitor handles audio, video, and internal calling only.
5) Is the KB-3HRD a handset station or hands-free?
It's a handset station, and the handset gives full-duplex talk so both parties can speak at once without cutting each other off. Good pick where privacy at the answering point matters, such as a leasing office or a front desk.
6) How big is the screen on the Aiphone KB-3HRD, and can it see a visitor at night?
Four inch LCD display. The system includes built-in illumination for low light conditions, so a visitor at the entrance is still identifiable after dark.
