3) Can the Aiphone LEF master station release a door strike?
Yes. LEF masters carry a door release output, an N/O dry contact rated 24V DC at 1 amp. For actual strike control you add the EL-12S along with one RY-PA per door strike. The dry contact by itself does not power a strike, so budget the EL-12S and an RY-PA for every opening you want released from the master.
4) What power supply does an Aiphone LEF intercom system need?
The LEF Series runs on 12V DC, supplied by the PS-1208UL. If a BG-10C is part of the system, use the PS-1225UL instead. The power supply is a separate item from the stations, so order it with the masters and subs rather than expecting it in the box.
5) Do I need a surface mount or semi-flush mount LEF master station?

Match the call buttons to how many stations that master needs to reach directly. The LEF-3L handles three, the LEF-5 five, and the LEF-10 ten, and each button selects one station rather than broadcasting to all of them. A small office with a front door and two back rooms is a 3-call job. A school office calling ten classrooms or a property manager reaching ten units needs the 10-call. Buy the size you will grow into, since the button count on a master is fixed.
7) Is the Aiphone LEF a hands-free intercom or do you have to hold a button?
It works both ways depending on which end you are standing at. The master station is push to talk, you hold the button to speak. The sub station or the station being called answers hands free, no button. So a tenant at a door or a worker at a sub station just talks, while the person at the master, typically the office or front desk, holds to speak. If you need hands free at both ends, this is not that system.
