Aiphone LEF-1C - Flush Mount Sub Master Station

The LEF-1C is a sub master station and cannot run a system by itself. It needs a BG-10C in the system, which supplies the door chime, All Call function and music. It also works alongside LEF master stations for internal communication. If you are building a new intercom system, budget for the BG-10C plus at least one master station and a door station before you order sub masters.

Wire distance from the sub station to the farthest master station is 650 feet on 22 AWG and 1,600 feet on 18 AWG. For a multi-building campus or a long run down a corridor, step up to 18 AWG. The LEF-1C accepts variable wire types, so you are not locked into one cable.

It does both. A door release button on the LEF-1C activates a door release mechanism, so staff can answer the door and buzz someone in from the same station. The door release hardware itself (electric strike or maglock) is separate equipment and is not part of the station.

Not at the LEF-1C itself. Communication is push-to-talk (simplex): press to talk, release to listen. The person standing at the door station speaks hands free, so the visitor side is easy, but the staff member at the sub master holds the button. If your application needs hands free at the inside station, this is the wrong unit.

Power consumption is 300mA per station. When you are sizing the system power supply, multiply that by the number of sub masters and add the draw of the masters and the BG-10C. Undersizing the supply is the usual cause of weak audio on a multi-station LEF install.

A call from the door station sounds a 4-stroke chime at every master and sub master station in the system, and the LEF-1C carries LED and call-tone indicators so staff see and hear the call. Whoever gets to a station first presses to talk. Because the chime sounds everywhere, this suits a front desk plus back office setup where either position may answer.

Yes. Press and hold the All Call button and speak; a short pre-tone plays at the other stations first. There is no hands free reply after an All Call, but another master or sub master can answer back by using its own All Call button. Selective Call to an individual station is also supported.

Music plays through every station in the system, sourced through the BG-10C. The LEF-1C has separate music and voice volume controls, so a staff member can turn music down at their own station without affecting call audio or the rest of the building.

It is a commercial-duty station with an ABS plastic housing. That is fine for interior office, school, and multi-family common areas. It is an indoor flush station, so for the entrance itself use an Aiphone outdoor door station, which comes in surface or flush mount.
