The JF-2SD is the audio only sub station for the JF series video entry security system. The JF system will support 2 video doors stations and 3 inside color monitor stations (1 master monitor and 2 subs).
The JF series has a built in picture memory feature that can be set to record automatically when the visitor calls, or the record can be done manually by the user. Up to 50 images can be recorded at a rate of 1 frame per second and 8 frames per image (400 total frames). Up to 10 images (80 frames) can be saved and protected from automatic overwriting.
From the JF-2SD you can answer the call from either door station, communicate with the visitor, and release the door. The JF-2SD can also place an all call to the other monitors/subs in the system. The JF-2SD has an adjustment for the receive volume and an adjustment for the Chime Tone volume.

A full JF system supports 2 video door stations and 3 inside color monitor stations (1 master monitor plus 2 subs), and the JF-2SD is the audio alternative when a location does not need the picture.
2) Does the JF-2SD show video from the door station?
No. Audio only. From the JF-2SD you can answer a call from either door station, talk to the visitor, and release the door, but there is no screen. If the person at that location needs to see who is at the door before releasing it, put a JF color monitor sub station there instead.
3) What kind of box do I need to rough in for an Aiphone JF-2SD sub station?
A single-gang box or ring. The JF-2SD surface mounts to the wall on a 1-gang box or ring, and it mounts directly to the wall surface, so there is no flush back box or trim ring to cut in. For a contractor that means standard 1-gang rough-in at the station location.
4) Can I use a JF-2SD as the main station for a door intercom system?
No. It is a sub station, so it works off a JF master monitor and cannot run the system on its own. A JF installation needs the master monitor station first; the JF-2SD is one of the two sub positions the system allows alongside it.
