1) Which Aiphone door stations does the SBX-LSE lock box fit?
The SBX-LSE enclosure is built to mount over the JF-DV, JF-DVF, JK-DV and JK-DVF video door stations. Those four are the units it is designed around, so if your station is a different Aiphone model, this is not the right enclosure for it.
2) Does the Aiphone SBX-LSE come with a lock?
No lock is included. The SBX-LSE is a lockable enclosure, but you supply the padlock or lock yourself. What does come in the box is the surface-mounting plate, an L-bracket that holds the cover securely open for use during business hours, and 8x32 screws with T-15 Torx heads. Plan on a T-15 Torx driver for the install.
3) How much wall space do I need for the Aiphone SBX-LSE security lock box?
Allow a flat area of at least 5-7/8 by 5-7/8 inches, with 1-9/16 inches of depth projecting off the wall. It surface mounts to a flat wall only, so a textured, curved or recessed spot needs a flat backer plate or a different mounting location.
4) Can the Aiphone SBX-LSE be installed outdoors at an entrance?
Yes. It is weather resistant and vandal resistant, made from 18-gauge stainless steel, which is why it gets specified at exterior entries where the door station is exposed to the elements and to tampering.
5) We want the intercom usable during the day but locked at night. Does this enclosure allow that?
That is exactly the use case. The SBX-LSE ships with an L-bracket that holds the cover securely open while you are in business, then you close and lock it after hours to shield the video door station. Aiphone describes it as added protection during non-business hours.
6) Do I need any special tools to install the Aiphone SBX-LSE?
The supplied fasteners are 8x32 screws with T-15 Torx heads, so a T-15 Torx bit is required. The Torx head is part of the tamper resistance, so keep a driver on the truck rather than expecting a Phillips to work.
