1) How do I mount an Alarm Controls maglock on a glass door or an aluminum frame with no header to screw into?
That's what the L bracket is for. The Alarm Controls L bracket family gives the magnet body a mounting surface where the frame doesn't offer one, mounting the lock down off the header on a glass or narrow frame opening. Pick the bracket by lock size: the AM3320, AM3325 and AM3326 are the 600 Series brackets, and the AM6320, AM6325 and AM6326 are the 1200 Series brackets. Filler and cover versions are offered too, with the AM3320C and AM6320C adding a cover over the bracket.
2) Should I use a fixed or an adjustable L bracket for a magnetic lock?
Use the fixed bracket when the door and frame are square and the armature meets the magnet flat: AM3320 on a 600 Series lock, AM6320 on a 1200 Series. Go adjustable when the door hangs out of plane, the gap is inconsistent, or you need to dial the magnet in against the armature after hanging it. The adjustable versions are the AM3325 for 600 Series locks and the AM6325 for 1200 Series locks, and each has its own installation instruction sheet from Alarm Controls.
3) I have a pair of doors with a double magnetic lock. Is there one L bracket that covers both leaves?
Yes, and it's a different part number from the single bracket. Double maglocks use the AM3326 on 600D and 600DLB Series double locks, and the AM6326 on 1200D Series double locks. Ordering two single brackets instead is the common mistake here, a double lock body needs the double bracket.
4) What is the thickness of the Alarm Controls AM3320 and AM6320 L brackets?
They vary by model, and the gauge matters when you're checking clearance to the door on swing. The AM3320 is 1/4 inch, the AM3325 adjustable is 3/16 inch, and the AM3326 double bracket is 5/16 inch on the 600 Series side. On the 1200 Series side, the AM6320 is 5/16 inch, and both the AM6325 adjustable and the AM6326 double bracket are 1/4 inch.
5) Does the Alarm Controls L bracket come with a cover to hide the mounting hardware?
Only on the C models. The AM3320C is the 600 Series single lock bracket with cover, and the AM6320C is the 1200 Series single lock bracket with cover. The AM6320 for 1200 Series locks is also supplied with a cover. If you're mounting on a storefront or a lobby door where the bracket is in plain view, order a cover version, the plain fixed and adjustable brackets leave the fasteners exposed.
6) What finish do Alarm Controls L brackets come in, and will they match the maglock?
Clear anodized, US28. That's the same aluminum finish Alarm Controls uses on its magnetic lock bodies, so a bracket and lock installed together read as one assembly rather than a mismatched add-on. There is no other finish option on the L brackets, all eight models are clear anodized.
