Alarm Controls RP Series - PlainRemote Plates - RP-20, RP-21, RP-22, RP-23 Single Gang, Stainless Steel Wall Plate

All four are single gang stainless steel remote plates, and the only thing that changes is the hole cut into them. The RP-20 has a "D" hole for an Ace lock. The RP-21 has a double "D" hole for a Medeco lock. The RP-22 has a 1-1/8 inch hole for an SC628 Sonalert. The RP-23 has a 3/4 inch hole for a PA-100 or PA-300 piezo sounder. Pick the plate by the device you are mounting through it, not by anything else, because the plate itself is the same otherwise.

For an SC628 Sonalert, order the RP-22, which is bored 1-1/8 inch. For a PA-100 or PA-300 piezo sounder, order the RP-23, bored 3/4 inch. The two are not interchangeable, a sounder that needs the 3/4 inch cut will not fill the 1-1/8 inch opening on the RP-22, so match the plate to the exact sounder model going into it.

Handing of the cut matters here. A Medeco cylinder needs the double "D" hole, which is the RP-21. An Ace (tubular) lock needs the single "D" hole, the RP-20. Order by the keyway family of the cylinder you already have in the facility so the switch drops in without a field cut.

Yes. The RP series plates are single gang, so they cover a standard single gang box or single gang mud ring, which is the same opening a light switch or receptacle plate covers. That makes them a straight swap into existing boxed openings at a door, no new rough-in needed.

No. The RP-20, RP-21, RP-22 and RP-23 are plain plates, bored to accept a device. The Ace lock, Medeco lock, SC628 Sonalert or PA-100/PA-300 piezo sounder is ordered separately and mounted through the hole. Budget the device and the plate as two line items on the order.

Order the ACSI 1340-1, a single gang wall mount indicator plate with one LED in red or green. The Alarm Controls RP plates are plain stainless plates machined for a specific device: RP-20 with a "D" hole for an Ace lock, RP-21 with a double "D" hole for a Medeco lock, RP-22 with a 1-1/8 inch hole for an SC628 Sonalert, and RP-23 with a 3/4 inch hole for a PA-100 or PA-300 piezo sounder. If the annunciation at that gang box is visual rather than a key switch or an audible device, the 1340-1 carries the LED itself; if you are mounting your own lock cylinder or sounder, the matching RP plate gives you the prepped opening for it.

The RP plates with a lock or sounder hole are cut for a device, not for a status light. If what you need at the opening is a lit indicator, the ACSI 1340-1 is a single gang wall mount indicator with one LED, available in red or green. Use that where the plate's job is to show door or lock status, and use the RP-20 through RP-23 where the plate's job is to carry a key switch or an audible.

They both mount in a single gang opening, but they are not interchangeable parts. The RP-22 is a satin stainless steel plate with a 1-1/8 inch hole sized to pass an SC628 Sonalert, so the audible device is supplied and mounted by the installer. The ACSI 1340-1 is an indicator plate that comes with one LED, red or green, already carried on the plate. Swapping the 1340-1 into an RP-22 location leaves no opening for the Sonalert; swapping the RP-22 in where a 1340-1 was leaves an unpopulated hole. Match the plate to the device that has to live in it.

Satin stainless steel. That is the same finish most commercial switch, pushbutton and card reader plates are supplied in, so a run of RP plates will read consistently alongside existing stainless door hardware plates on the same corridor. The finish is fixed, there is no other option in the RP series.

Commercial. The RP series is a commercial door hardware plate, used at access controlled openings in institutional and multi-family buildings rather than as a residential trim plate.
