1) Will the Alarm Lock PDL1300 fit my aluminum storefront door?
The PDL1300 is built for narrow stile aluminum doors, and it fits 1-3/4 inch doors only. It is not a multi-thickness trim, so a 1-3/8 inch or a thicker door is out. Backset is selectable at 31/32, 1-1/8, or 1-1/2 inches to match the existing Adams Rite lock case in the stile. The trim body measures 14-3/8 x 1-5/8 x 1-3/4 inches, which keeps it inside the stile face on a typical glass storefront opening.
2) Does the PDL1300 work with my existing Adams Rite latch, or do I have to replace the lock case?
Keep the lock case. The PDL1300 is a retrofit outside trim that drives Adams Rite 1850, 1950, 4710, 4070, 4730, and 4900 series spring latches, plus MS1850S and MS1950S series deadbolts. That is the point of the product: you pull the existing mechanical outside trim and put electronic access on a lock case that is already in the stile. Match the backset of what is in the door (31/32, 1-1/8, or 1-1/2 inch) when you order.
3) What proximity cards work with the Alarm Lock PDL1300 reader?
HID II credentials from 26 to 37 bit. The PDL1300 reads those cards and fobs, and it also takes 3 to 5 digit PIN codes on the 12-button keypad, so you can run cards, codes, or both. If your building is already carrying HID II badges in that bit range, existing credentials enroll straight into the lock rather than being reissued.
4) Is the PDL1300 handed, and do I need to know the door swing before ordering?
Non-handed. The PDL1300 trim is field reversible, so one part covers left and right hand openings and you do not have to determine handing on the order. What you do have to nail down is door thickness (1-3/4 inch only) and the backset of the Adams Rite case already in the stile.
