ALTRONIX ACMCB ACCESS POWER CONTROLLER WITH POWER SUPPLY

Altronix ACMCB/ACMCBJ Series units distribute and switch power to access control systems and accessories. They convert
a 115VAC 60Hz input into eight (8) independently controlled 12VDC or 24VDC PTC protected power-limited autoresettable outputs. Outputs are activated by an open collector sink or normally open (NO) dry trigger input from an Access Control System, Card Reader, Keypad, Push Button, PIR, etc. Units will route power to a variety of access control hardware devices including: Mag Locks, Electric Strikes, Magnetic Door Holders, etc. Outputs will operate in both Fail-Safe and/or Fail-Secure modes. The FACP Interface enables Emergency Egress, Alarm Monitoring, or may be used to trigger other auxiliary devices. 1) Can the Altronix AL1024ULACMCB run 12VDC locks, or is it 24VDC only?
The AL1024ULACMCB is the 24VDC @ 10A model in the ACMCB family. If your mag locks or strikes are 12VDC, order the AL1012ULACMCB instead, which is 12VDC @ 10A in the same BC400 enclosure. The 400 and 600 versions of the series are the ones with selectable 12 or 24VDC output.
2) How many doors can one AL1024ULACMCB power?
It gives you eight independently controlled 24VDC outputs, so eight openings of switched power, plus eight unswitched auxiliary outputs for readers or REX devices. The limit in practice is current: each output PTC is rated at 2.5A and the supply totals 10A continuous, so add up your lock draw before assuming all eight run at full load.
3) Does this Altronix power controller handle fail-safe mag locks and fail-secure strikes on the same board?
Yes. Each of the eight outputs on the ACMCB board operates in fail-safe or fail-secure mode independently, so mag locks on some openings and electric strikes on others run off the same unit. 5) I need 10 amps but at 12VDC instead of 24VDC - what should I use?
The Securitron AQS1210 is a switching power supply rated 12VDC at 10 amps, which matches the 10A current rating of the AL1024ULACMCB while delivering it at 12VDC. Note the AQS1210 is a power supply rather than an access power controller, so it does not bring the eight independently controlled fail-safe/fail-secure outputs and fire alarm disconnect the ACMCB board provides.
6) What should I specify instead if the openings use motorized latch retraction exit devices?
Motorized latch retraction draws a high inrush and is normally fed by a supply built for it, such as the BEST RPSMLR2 series power supply for motorized latch retraction exit devices. Delayed egress exit devices have their own dedicated option in the BEST PS161-6, a 120V input, 12/24V output supply with 6A capacity.
