1) Does the American Lock A3572WOKAMK padlock come with a core, or do I need to order one separately?
No core is included. The A3572WOKAMK ships as a solid brass body prepped for a small format interchangeable core, so you supply and install the SFIC core keyed to your existing system. American Lock offers the padlock with a choice of 16 small format keyways including Best, Arrow and Falcon, so the padlock can be brought onto the same key system as your door locks.
2) What does "keyed alike master keyed" mean on this American Lock brass SFIC padlock order?
Keyed alike master keyed means every padlock on the order opens with the same change key, and all of them also operate under a master key. It suits a property manager or facility who wants one key for a run of gates, cages or cabinets while maintenance carries a master. If you want each lock on its own key instead, the same 2in brass body is offered as the A3572WOKA (keyed alike), A3572WOMK (keyed different, master keyed) and A3572WOUN (uncombinated) versions.
3) Will a 2 inch brass padlock with a 3/8 inch shackle fit my hasp?
Check two numbers against your hasp. The shackle is 3/8 inch diameter, so the hasp staple opening has to clear 3/8 inch, and the clearance between the shackle legs is 3/4 inch, which sets how wide a staple or chain link it will pass over. Body width is 2 inches. Shackle length is 3 inches overall, which gives room for thicker hasps, chain or a cable eye.
4) I do not need an interchangeable core - what brass padlock should I buy instead?
If you are not tying the padlock into an SFIC system, the Sargent 758 is a key retaining standard padlock in US4 satin brass, and the Sargent 858 is the non-key-retaining version with a stainless steel shackle in the same US4 satin brass finish. The Schlage KS23D/KS23F is a brass padlock with a 5/16 inch diameter shackle. All three come as complete locks, where the American Lock A3572WOKAMK is supplied without a cylinder so a core has to be furnished separately.
5) Is a brass padlock the right choice for outdoor, coastal or wash-down locations?
That is the reason to pick the brass body over a steel one. The A3572 series uses a solid brass body for corrosion resistance in caustic, corrosive and salty conditions, and American Lock lists it for marine and offshore security, marine environments, tool cribs and utility work. If you are locking an interior tool crib with no chemical exposure, a steel-body padlock will do the same job for less material cost.

The A3572WOKAMK is a purely mechanical padlock that accepts a small format interchangeable core. That is a different credential platform entirely, so it will not key into an existing SFIC master system the way the American Lock will.

Both have brass bodies, but they are not interchangeable in a keying sense. The Medeco 5260 is a 52 Series brass body padlock in satin chrome with a 7/16 inch shackle diameter and M3 key technology, meaning it is keyed to the Medeco platform. The A3572WOKAMK has a 3/8 inch shackle diameter, a 3 inch shackle length, and takes a small format interchangeable core that you supply, so it matches whatever SFIC keyway your door hardware already uses.
