Metallics WAK23QD – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Does the Metallics WAK23QD include the plastic wall anchors, or just the screws?
Screws only. The WAK23QD is the replacement screw component for the 1/4 inch gray plastic wall anchor kit, supplied as #10 x 1 inch hex washer head quick-drive tapping screws in zinc-plated steel. If you need the anchors themselves, order the complete kit rather than this item.
2) Will the WAK23QD screw work with 1/4 inch gray plastic wall anchors I already have on the shelf?
That's exactly what it's for. The screw is sized for the 1/4 inch gray plastic wall anchor kit it ships as a component of, so if your existing anchors are the same 1/4 inch gray plastic type, these #10 x 1 inch screws are the matching fastener.
3) What driver do I need for the Metallics WAK23QD screws?
They're hex washer head screws, so a nut driver or socket bit drives them, not a Phillips or square bit. Hex washer head also means the wide flange under the head seats on the anchor collar without needing a separate washer.
4) Are the Metallics WAK23QD screws corrosion protected for damp locations?
They're zinc-plated steel, which handles normal interior drywall and masonry work. Zinc plating is a light sacrificial coating, not stainless, so for exterior or persistently wet locations a stainless fastener is the better call.
