Metallics WAK9 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Are the Metallics WAK9 anchors for use in concrete and masonry, and do I need a separate screw?
Blue vinyl anchors like the WAK9 are plug anchors for masonry, concrete, block and brick: you drill the hole, tap the anchor in, then drive a sheet metal or wood screw into it so the plastic expands against the hole wall. The screw is the fastener and it is not part of the anchor, so order screws sized to the 5/16 inch anchor separately.
2) What size is the Metallics WAK9 vinyl anchor?
The WAK9 is a 5/16 inch blue vinyl anchor, sold under part number WAK9 and supplied in a tray.
3) What does collarless mean on the Metallics WAK9 anchor?
Collarless means the anchor has no raised lip or flange at the top, so the whole body seats down inside the drilled hole. That lets the fixture or plate you are mounting sit flat against the base material instead of standing off on a collar. If you need the anchor head to stop flush at the surface and act as a bushing, a collared version is what you want instead.
