Metallics THDWH62600 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Do I need an expansion anchor or will a Titen HD screw anchor work for mounting equipment to concrete?
A Titen HD screw anchor like the 5/8 x 6 THDWH62600 threads directly into a pre-drilled hole in concrete, so it installs with an impact wrench and no setting or torque sequence the way a wedge or sleeve expansion anchor does. That also means it can be removed. Expansion anchors are the choice where a spec drawing specifically calls out a wedge or sleeve type; for mechanical and electrical equipment mounting where a screw anchor is permitted, this is the faster install.
2) What hole diameter do I drill for a 5/8 inch Titen HD anchor?
Titen HD screw anchors are drilled with a hole the same nominal diameter as the anchor, so a 5/8 inch anchor takes a 5/8 inch carbide bit sized to ANSI tolerances. The 6 inch length means you need enough embedment depth plus the thickness of whatever you're fastening through, so verify your slab or wall is deep enough before you drill.
3) What is the Metallics part number for the 5/8 by 6 inch Titen HD anchor?
The manufacturer part number is THDWH62600, from Metallics. That's the number to quote for the 5/8 x 6 Titen HD screw anchor in the 10 piece pack.
