A 1/2 inch wedge anchor like the TS4070SS goes into a 1/2 inch hole, drilled with a carbide hammer bit. Wedge anchors are matched one to one with bit diameter, so the anchor body slips through the hole and the clip expands against the wall when you torque the nut. Drill deeper than the embedment you need so dust can settle below the anchor, and blow the hole clean before setting.

Wedge anchors, including the 1/2 x 7 TS4070SS, are for solid concrete. The expansion clip needs dense, uncracked base material to grip. In hollow block, brick, or mortar joints the clip can blow out the cell wall, so use a sleeve anchor or an adhesive anchor with a screen tube there instead.
