1) Can I use the Metallics TS66181SSD wedge anchor in block or brick?
No. Wedge anchors like the TS66181SSD are for solid poured concrete only. In hollow block, brick, or grouted CMU the expansion clip has nothing solid to bite and the anchor will spin or pull. For masonry use a sleeve anchor or a screw anchor rated for block, and in hollow cells use a toggle or an adhesive anchor with a screen tube.
2) Is a stainless wedge anchor worth it over a zinc plated one?
For anything wet or outdoors it is. The TS66181SSD is stainless, which is what you want on exterior slabs, parking structures, wash-down areas, pool decks, coastal sites, and in damp electrical rooms where a zinc plated anchor will bleed rust down the concrete and lose section over time. Interior dry conditions do not need it. Stainless also pairs better with stainless strut and hardware, keeping dissimilar metal contact out of the connection.
3) Can wedge anchors be removed or reused later?
Not really. Once a wedge anchor is set the expansion clip is locked into the concrete. You can back the nut off and drive the anchor below the surface, then patch over it, but it cannot be pulled back out intact or reused in another hole. If the connection needs to come apart later, plan on a drop-in anchor with a removable bolt instead.
