Metallics WAK13B – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size plastic wall anchor is in the Metallics WAK13B kit?
The WAK13B kit is built around 3/16 inch blue plastic wall anchors, the common ribbed expansion type used in drywall and masonry for light fixtures, device plates, and conduit straps. Order it by Metallics part number WAK13B.
2) Are these Metallics anchors right for hanging a light fixture or device box in drywall?
They suit light duty electrical work: securing device plates, low voltage brackets, conduit straps, and small fixture canopies. A 3/16 inch plastic expansion anchor with a #6 screw is not a structural anchor, so for heavy fixtures or anything carrying live load, step up to a toggle or a masonry sleeve anchor instead.
3) Does the Metallics WAK13B anchor kit include screws?
Yes. WAK13B is sold as a wall anchor kit with #6 screws paired to the 3/16 inch blue plastic anchors, so you are not sourcing fasteners separately for the anchor size you bought.
4) How many anchors come in a Metallics WAK13B clamshell?
WAK13B ships as a 200 piece clamshell pack, which is the quantity most property maintenance and electrical crews stock on the truck rather than buying by the handful.
5) What drill bit size do I need for 3/16 inch blue plastic wall anchors?
Blue ribbed plastic anchors are sized by the hole they go into, so the 3/16 inch anchors in the Metallics WAK13B kit want a 3/16 inch bit. Drill clean and to full anchor depth, then drive the included #6 screw to expand the body against the wall.
