Metallics WAK18 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size anchor is in the Metallics WAK18 wall anchor kit?
The WAK18 kit is built around 3/16 inch yellow plastic wall anchors. That is the anchor body diameter, so drill to match the 3/16 inch anchor and tap it flush before driving the screw.
2) What do electricians use the Metallics 3/16 plastic wall anchor kit for?
Plastic wall anchors like the WAK18 are the standard way to hang light-duty electrical work on hollow drywall or masonry where there is no stud: low-voltage boxes, raceway and wiremold straps, cover plates, small enclosures, signage and conduit clips. Metallics catalogues it as an electrical fastener anchor. For anything carrying real load or vibration, step up to a toggle or a screw-in metal anchor instead.
3) Is the Metallics WAK18 sold as a kit or as loose anchors?
It ships as a kit, packaged in a 200-count clam pack. That makes it a stocking item for a shop or truck rather than a one-off count, which is how most electrical and maintenance crews buy plastic wall anchors.
4) Does the Metallics WAK18 anchor kit come with screws?
The WAK18 is a wall anchor kit of 3/16 inch yellow plastic anchors. Plan on supplying the screws to suit what you are mounting, and match the screw gauge to the 3/16 inch anchor so it expands properly in the hole.
