Metallics WAKJ13B – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size plastic wall anchor is in the Metallics WAKJ13B kit?
The WAKJ13B is a 3/16 inch blue plastic wall anchor kit, sized to pair with a #6 screw. Blue plastic ribbed anchors of this size are the standard choice for light-duty fastening into drywall, plaster, and masonry where a screw alone won't hold.
2) What screw size should I use with a 3/16 blue plastic anchor?
Use a #6 screw. The WAKJ13B kit is specified as a 3/16 inch blue plastic anchor for #6 fasteners, so a larger screw will split the anchor body and a smaller one won't expand it enough to grip.
3) Are blue plastic wall anchors strong enough for hanging an electrical box or heavy equipment?
No. Ribbed blue plastic anchors like the Metallics 3/16 inch #6 kit are light-duty fasteners for things such as cover plates, cable straps, small brackets, and low-voltage devices. For a load-bearing mount or anything heavy, step up to a toggle bolt, a self-drilling drywall anchor, or a sleeve or wedge anchor into concrete.
4) Do the Metallics WAKJ13B wall anchors come with screws?
The WAKJ13B is sold as a 200-piece jar of 3/16 inch blue plastic anchors sized for #6 screws. Order the #6 screws in the length your application needs separately, along with the correct masonry or drill bit to match the 3/16 inch anchor body.
5) Is the Metallics WAKJ13B anchor kit made in the USA?
Yes, country of origin on the WAKJ13B blue plastic wall anchor kit is the United States, which matters if you are buying against a Buy American or domestic-content requirement on a government or institutional job.
