Metallics MWCA25 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I use these anchors in plaster or lath walls instead of drywall?
Stick to gypsum board. Hammer-in nylon anchors depend on punching cleanly through a thin, uniform panel; plaster over wood lath tends to crack or stop the anchor short, and the MWCA25 is specified as a drywall anchor. For plaster, drill and use a toggle or a screw-in anchor sized to the actual wall thickness.
2) How does the Metallics MWCA25 come packaged for a service van?
It ships as a 25-piece clamshell kit, which is the format most electricians and maintenance techs keep on the truck rather than a bulk box. One clamshell per opening on the order form.
3) Do I need a separate screw with the WallClaw hammer-in anchors?
The MWCA25 is sold as a kit, so plan on the anchors plus the matching screws being what completes the install. No drill bit is required for the anchor itself since it is hammered in, but you do need a driver to set the screw that expands it.
