Metallics MWDOZ1141M Anchors WDog 1-1/4 Ov Hd Ph St-zn (Jar 1000)

No separate plastic anchor is needed. Wall Dog anchor screws thread themselves into drywall, plaster, and masonry directly, so you drive them with a Phillips bit, oval head seated against the item you're fastening. That is the whole point of the design for a property maintenance tech hanging a bracket on a wall with no stud behind it.

One jar holds 1,000 of the 1-1/4 inch Wall Dog anchors. It ships as a jar pack rather than a small blister card, so it's sized for a crew doing repeat work, not a single fixture.

The screw is 1-1/4 inch overall, so once you allow for the thickness of the bracket or strap you're fastening and 1/2 inch drywall, you have limited embedment left. It suits thin-profile items (conduit straps, box mounting ears, hanger brackets, cover plates). If you're going through furring, a thick backplate, or layered wallboard, step up to a longer Wall Dog length instead.

These are zinc plated steel, which is a dry-interior finish. Zinc plating gives handling and mild humidity protection only, so keep them to indoor walls and ceilings. For exterior walls, unheated garages, pool rooms, or coastal exposure, specify a stainless or hot-dip galvanized anchor instead.

The oval head on the MWDOZ1141M sits partly countersunk and leaves a low, rounded crown above the surface. That is what you want on a countersunk bracket hole or a strap where you don't want a tall pan head catching, but you also aren't trying to bury the head flush like a flat head. Drive is Phillips.

Order it as Metallics MWDOZ1141M. That number covers the 1-1/4 inch oval head Phillips Wall Dog in zinc plated steel, jar of 1,000, and it's the number to quote if you're standardizing anchors across a facility so the jars that come in match what the crew already has on the van.
