Appleton EFD/EFDB and EDS Explosionproof Control Stations and Pilot Lights

Appleton EFD/EFDB and EDS Series factory sealed control stations are explosionproof, dust-ignitionproof enclosures that confine internal arcing to prevent ignition of surrounding hazardous atmospheres during motor and equipment control operation. The family includes push buttons, selector switches, and pilot lights rated 10 Amp, 600 Vac, with EFDB and EDS bodies built from malleable iron and finished with a triple-coat of zinc electroplate, chromate, and epoxy powder coat. Rated for Class I, Division 1 and 2, Groups B, C, D and Class II, Division 1 and 2, Groups E, F, G as well as Class III locations with NEMA 3, 7CD, 9EFG protection, these control stations are built for chemical, petrochemical, and other process-industry environments where flammable vapors, gases, or combustible dusts are present.

• Durable Construction: Malleable iron body with copperfree (4/10 of 1% max.) aluminum cover on EFDB units, finished with a triple-coat of zinc electroplate, chromate, and epoxy powder coat for corrosion resistance.
• Push Button Operation: Stainless steel push button shaft operates within a stainless steel bushing for long, maintenance-free operation; heavy-duty push buttons are rated 10 Amp, 600 Vac.
• Factory Sealed Design: Eliminates the need for adding sealing fittings and compound at each conduit entrance; pigtail leads from push buttons are factory sealed in the sealing well.
• Contact Reliability: Push button and selector switch contacts are silver cadmium oxide, sealed in a lower phenolic chamber isolated from corrosive elements for positive, trouble-free contact.
• Selector Switches: EFD/EFDB factory sealed selector switches feature nylon cam-operated, heavy-duty push buttons for 2-position or 3-position maintained contact operation with high thermal and arc resistance.
• Lockout Security: EFD/EFDB momentary push buttons include lockout type guards as standard, with a hole accepting locks up to a 1/4" hasp to prevent unauthorized operation.
• Pilot Lights: EFD/EFDB factory sealed pilot lights are supplied with a red jewel/guard assembly and a 120 Vac/Vdc, 50/60 Hz, 6 Watt, Type 6S6 lamp for visual confirmation of electrical function.
• Hardware & Wiring: Accurately tapped, tapered hubs with internal ground screw for tight, rigid joints and ground continuity; clearly marked terminals with brass screws and corrosion resistant captive stainless steel hex head cap screws.
