Appleton EXGJH and EXLK Explosionproof Flexible Couplings
Appleton EXGJH and EXLK flexible couplings are explosionproof and dust-ignitionproof fittings built for areas where vibration and/or movement would damage a rigid run of conduit. They can be used in place of rigid conduit in difficult-bend situations, with 1/2 thru 2 sizes constructed of an outer bronze braid over a brass core and 2-1/2 thru 4 sizes built from an outer stainless steel braid over a stainless steel core, both with an interior insulating liner and end fittings to match. The line is explosionproof, dust-ignitionproof, and watertight, with 1-1/4 thru 4 sizes rated for Class I, Group D; Class II, Groups E, F, G; and Class III locations, and stainless steel 1/2 thru 2 sizes additionally ATEX rated.

EXGJH vs. EXLK — what the model number means: Both are explosionproof, dust-ignitionproof flexible couplings built from an outer bronze braid over a brass core. They differ in end-fitting configuration, per Appleton/Emerson's own catalog: EXGJH models have matching female connections on both ends, each furnished with a removable male nipple — symmetrical, either end can go either direction. EXLK models have a union fitting on one end and a female connection with a removable male nipple on the other — asymmetrical, one end unions directly to a fixed fitting. Select EXGJH for a symmetrical run between two open connections; select EXLK when one end needs to union onto an existing fixed fitting.
