Arrow 16CR - SFIC Mortise Housing to o Accept 6/7-Pin IC Cylinder, Less Core

No core is included. The 16CR is a less-core housing, so you supply the small format interchangeable core yourself, which is normally the point of buying it this way: the housing goes into the lock now and the facility's own keyed core drops in later. Locksmiths and property managers standardizing a building on one keyway usually stock the housings and pin the cores to their own system.

Both, but you pick one when you order. The housing is offered in an SFIC 6-Pin version and an SFIC 7-Pin version, and they are separate items rather than one part that accepts either depth. Match it to the core your master key system is already built on, since a 7-pin core will not seat in a 6-pin housing.

Six finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 625 bright chrome and 626 satin chrome. Those are the standard BHMA finish numbers, so 626 satin chrome will sit against satin chrome levers and exit trim on the same opening, and 613 matches oil rubbed bronze. Every one of the six is offered with either cam and in either 6-pin or 7-pin.

An SFIC housing like the 16CR is for facilities running small format interchangeable cores, where the whole point is that maintenance can rekey an opening by swapping the core in seconds with a control key. A conventional mortise cylinder is a single sealed unit, cheaper per opening, and it has to be pinned or replaced to rekey. If you are doing one apartment door and have no core program, the conventional cylinder is the simpler buy. If you manage a portfolio or an institution and already stock cores, the interchangeable core housing is what keeps every opening on one system.

Just the cylinder housing. The 16CR is the threaded mortise shell with a cam on the back that screws into the cylinder hole of a mortise lock body or mortise exit trim. It is not a lock body, not trim, and it has no core in it. To make a working opening you need the mortise lock or device that is already in the door, this housing, and an SFIC core in your keyway.

Two, at minimum. The 16CR housing gets you the shell and cam only, so you also need an SFIC core in the pin count you selected, 6-pin or 7-pin, cut to your keyway and key system. Contractors buying these for a new building typically order the housings in bulk in one finish and have the cores pinned by their locksmith to the building's master key chart before turnover.
