1) Can the B-Line E50AR16P12 limit switch be used in a washdown or submersible area?
Yes. The E50AR16P12 carries NEMA 1, 3, 3S, 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 13 plus IP67 and IP69K ratings, so it handles high pressure, high temperature washdown (IP69K) and temporary submersion (IP67, NEMA 6P). 2) Does the E50AR16P12 come with a conduit entry or a cable already attached?
It is a pre-cabled switch, not a conduit-entry unit. The E50AR16P12 ships with a 12 ft (3.7 m) SOOW-A cable molded to the body, which is what keeps the factory seal intact. If your install needs a conduit hub or a quick-disconnect receptacle, this is the wrong version of the E50 for it.
3) Will the E50AR16P12 switch handle a 480V motor starter coil?
No. Contacts on the E50AR16P12 are rated 10A at 240Vac and 1A at 250Vdc, so 240V is the ceiling on the AC side. Use it as a pilot device into a 120V or 240V control circuit, or into a PLC input, and let a properly rated contactor handle the 480V load.
4) How many contacts does the B-Line E50 side rotary limit switch give me, and can I get two circuits out of it?
The E50AR16P12 has a single 1NO-1NC contact block, so you get one normally open and one normally closed contact off the same actuation. That covers a run/stop pair or a signal-plus-interlock, but not two independently timed circuits. If you need more poles, you need a different contact arrangement, not this one.
5) Can I set this rotary limit switch to trip in only one direction of travel?
Yes. The E50AR16P12 operates in both CW (clockwise) and CCW (counterclockwise) as shipped, and it converts easily to CW-only or CCW-only operation in the field. Handy on a conveyor or gate arm where you want the switch to ignore the return stroke.
