The B3100-8GRN is sized for 8 inch pipe. It's a single-size hanger, not adjustable across a range, so 8 inch nominal pipe is what it takes. For other line sizes you order the matching B3100 size, not this one.

It's drilled for 3/4-10 threaded rod. That's the rod and nut you need to buy separately, along with whatever overhead attachment you're anchoring to, since the hanger ships as the clevis assembly only.

A clevis hanger like the B-Line Slide Rite is built for exactly that. The bolt hole is aligned for overhead installation, so you drop threaded rod from the structure and the pipe rides in the lower strap. For pipe running along a wall or where you need side attachment instead of a rod drop, a clevis is the wrong part and you want a bracket or strap style support.

Plan for a footprint of 12.938 inches long by 11 inches wide by 1.75 inches high. The 11 inch dimension is the one that usually bites you in a tight ceiling cavity or between closely spaced parallel runs, so lay the hangers out before you set the rod drops.

Type 1 is the hanger classification carried on the B3100-8GRN, the standard adjustable clevis designation used on pipe support submittals. If your drawing calls out a Type 1 clevis for 8 inch pipe, this matches that callout.
