B-LINE B3100-24ZN – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What pipe size does the B-Line B3100-24ZN clevis hanger fit?
The B3100-24ZN Slide Rite clevis hanger is sized for 24 inch pipe, which is the maximum pipe size it carries. It is a single-size hanger, so it won't be the right pick for smaller runs - order the B3100 in the matching size for those lines.
2) What threaded rod size does the B3100 24 inch clevis hanger take?
It is built for 1-1/4 to 7 inch rod size per the B3100-24ZN specification. That is a heavy rod for a heavy hanger, so confirm your structural attachment and rod are sized to match before you set the drops.
3) How much does a 24 inch clevis hanger weigh, and can one person hang it?
The B3100-24ZN weighs 50.66 lb on its own, before any pipe load. At that weight it is a two-person or rigged lift overhead, and the supporting steel and rod have to carry the hanger plus the filled pipe.
4) Is the yellow zinc chromate finish on this B-Line clevis hanger suitable for outdoor or wet locations?
The finish is yellow zinc chromate over steel, which is a coating intended for dry indoor mechanical rooms and interior overhead runs. For exterior, wash-down or corrosive service, specify a hot dip galvanized or stainless version of the hanger instead.
5) Is the B-Line B3100-24ZN clevis hanger listed for use on a specified electrical or mechanical job?
It is cUL Listed, which is the certification a specifying engineer or inspector will look for on a submittal in Canada. That listing is what lets it go on a job where the hanger itself has to be a listed component.
6) Does the B3100-24ZN clevis hanger come with the threaded rod and structural attachment?
No. The B3100-24ZN is the hanger assembly only, sized for 1-1/4 to 7 inch rod. The rod, beam clamp or insert, nuts and any washers are ordered separately, and on a 24 inch line the attachment needs to be sized for the full loaded pipe weight plus the 50.66 lb hanger.
7) What makes a Slide Rite clevis hanger different from a standard clevis hanger?
The B3100 Slide Rite has a design aligned bolt hole so the cross bolt lines up for an overhead install, which matters when you are working a big hanger alone on a lift. Functionally it is still a two-piece clevis: the pipe sits in the lower strap, the upper strap carries the rod.
8) What is the exact part number to order this 24 inch zinc chromate B-Line clevis hanger?
Order Eaton B-Line part B3100-24ZN. The ZN suffix is the yellow zinc chromate finish; the 24 is the pipe size in inches.
