B-LINE FTSTLC BLE – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size Flextray wire basket can the B-Line FTSTLC BLE tab-loc connector be used on?
The FTSTLC BLE splice connector works across the full Eaton B-Line Flextray range, 2 inch through 32 inch wide tray. One connector part covers every width, so you don't have to stock a different splice for each tray size on the job.
2) Is the black Flextray connector UL Listed for use in a commercial cable tray run?
Yes. The tab-loc connector is UL Listed, which matters if an inspector is reviewing a cable basket installation in a data room, healthcare facility or other commercial building where the tray system has to hold its listing at the splices as well as the tray sections.
3) Do I need tools or extra hardware to splice Flextray with the FTSTLC connector?
It's a tab-loc style connector, so the splice is made by the tab locking into the wire mesh rather than by threading a bolt, nut and washer at each joint. That's the whole point of the part for an electrical contractor running long cable basket runs, joints go together fast and there's no loose hardware to drop in a ceiling.
4) Will the black connector match black Flextray basket, or will it stand out on exposed runs?
Finish is flat black powder coat over steel, the same treatment used on black Flextray sections, so splices stay visually consistent on open ceiling runs where the tray is exposed. If your existing tray is electro-plated zinc or pre-galvanized, this is the wrong finish to mix in on visible work.
5) Is the FTSTLC BLE a piece of tray or just the splice hardware?
It's the connector only, not a section of basket. You order Flextray straight sections separately and use these tab-loc connectors at each joint. Count your joints, not your footage, when working out how many to buy.
6) Is a steel powder coated connector suitable for a corrosive or wash-down area?
Construction is steel with a flat black powder coat, which is a painted finish intended for dry interior runs such as data centers, offices and back-of-house corridors. For wet, corrosive or exterior environments, a stainless or hot dip galvanized Flextray system is the better call rather than powder coated steel.
