B-LINE SB560219FB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the B-Line SB560219FB guard rail cover fit a standard 19 inch equipment rack?
Yes. The SB560219FB guard rail cover measures 19 inches wide, which is the standard EIA rack mounting width, with a 21.94 inch depth dimension and a 2 inch height. Confirm your open frame rack depth accommodates the 21.94 inch figure before ordering.
2) What exactly is a guard rail cover on an open frame rack, and do I need one?
A guard rail cover is a steel panel that closes off the guard rail area of an open frame relay rack, keeping hands, cable, and loose gear out of the rail channel and giving the rack a finished face. It is an accessory, not a rack, so you are buying it to add to an existing Eaton B-Line series open frame rack rather than as a standalone assembly. Model designation is Guard rail cover, part number SB560219FB.
3) What gauge steel is the Eaton B-Line guard rail cover, and is it strong enough for a data closet with cable traffic?
It is 11 gauge steel, the heavier end of rack sheet metal, so it holds its shape under routine bumping and cable pulling in a telecom or data closet. Bare weight is 11 lb, which is worth knowing if you are adding several to an already loaded open frame rack.
4) Does the B-Line guard rail cover come in black to match existing open frame racks?
The finish is flat black powder coat, so it matches black-finished Eaton B-Line open frame racks and most black rack hardware already in a closet. Powder coat over steel also holds up better than paint where equipment gets slid in and out.
5) Is the SB560219FB guard rail cover a UL listed or otherwise certified item?
No certification applies to this part. It is a passive steel enclosure accessory for open frame racks, so there is no electrical listing attached to it. Certifications on your installation come from the active equipment and the bonding hardware, not from the guard rail cover.
6) How many rack units does the guard rail cover take up?
The cover is 2 inches high, which works out to a little over one rack unit of vertical space at the 1.75 inch per RU standard. Plan on it occupying the guard rail position rather than usable mounting space for gear.
