B-LINE SB576A05TG – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the B-Line SB576A05TG adapter plate actually do?
It adapts a 23 inch equipment rack to accept 19 inch rack-mount panels. The kit is a pair of plates that mount to the 23 inch rails and present standard 19 inch mounting holes, so 19 inch gear can go into a telco-width frame without replacing the rack.
2) How much rack space do these 19 inch adapter plates take up?
Five mounting spaces (5 rack units) of usable 19 inch panel area. The plate measures 8.69 inches on the tall dimension, which is consistent with a 5-space opening. Anything you mount through it has to fit inside that 5U window.
3) Is mounting hardware included, and what screw thread does it use?
Yes, #12-24 mounting hardware ships with the pair of plates. #12-24 is the common tapped thread on telco and open-frame racks, so the screws match the rack rails and the panels you hang off the plates.
4) I have a 19 inch rack, not a 23 inch one. Do I need this?
No. The SB576A05TG only makes sense if your frame is 23 inch (telco) width and the equipment you want to install is 19 inch EIA panel width. On a rack that is already 19 inch, mount the panel straight to the rails with #12-24 screws.
5) Will these adapter plates hold up in a working comms room, or are they light-duty?
They're 11 gauge steel, which is the heavy end of rack sheet steel and the same gauge used on the Eaton B-Line open frame rails themselves. Finish is telco gray powder coat, so they match standard telco-gray frames already in most closets.
6) Do I need one kit per panel, or does one cover the whole rack?
One kit covers a 5-space section. The order is a pair of plates (left and right) giving 5 mounting spaces of 19 inch panel area, weighing 1.8 lb. If you're converting more than 5U of a 23 inch frame, order additional kits and stack them up the rails.
7) Is this the right part number if I'm matching existing Eaton B-Line gear?
The part is Eaton B-Line SB576A05TG. The TG suffix is the telco gray powder coat finish, and the 05 is the 5 mounting space size, so it drops in alongside telco gray B-Line open frame racks already in the room.
