B-LINE SB747V2310AAL – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How much rack space does the Eaton B-Line SB747V2310AAL shelf take up?
Three mounting spaces (3U) are required for the SB747V2310AAL shelf, so plan on three consecutive rack unit positions on the rails. Its overall height is 5.19 inches, which is consistent with a 3U footprint.
2) Will this B-Line shelf fit a standard 19 inch open frame rack?
Yes. At 22.31 inches wide overall, the SB747V2310AAL spans a standard 19 inch EIA rack and its mounting flanges land on the rails the same way any 19 inch rack accessory does. It is built as a single sided rack mounted solid shelf, so it bolts to the front rails only.
3) Do I need to buy mounting screws for the SB747V2310AAL rack shelf?
No, #12-24 mounting hardware ships with the shelf. That means it is intended for racks with #12-24 tapped rails. If your rack uses 10-32 tapped rails or square-hole cage nuts, you will need the matching screws for that thread instead.
4) How deep is the B-Line SB747V2310AAL shelf and what can I set on it?
The usable depth is 10 inches, so it suits shallow gear that does not have its own rack ears: media converters, small switches, power bricks, patch tooling, test sets. Deeper equipment will overhang the front edge since this is a single sided shelf supported at the front rails only.
5) Is this a solid shelf or a vented one?
Solid. The SB747V2310AAL is a solid aluminum shelf, not perforated, so it does not pass cooling air through the deck. For equipment that draws air vertically off the shelf surface, a vented shelf is the better choice.
6) What finish does this aluminum rack shelf come in, and will it match my existing B-Line open frame rack?
Brushed aluminum, unpainted. If your open frame rack is a black powder coat or clear anodized aluminum frame, the brushed aluminum shelf will read differently in the cabinet. In an aluminum rack lineup it blends with the frame.
7) Is the B-Line SB747V2310AAL shelf heavy enough to need two people to install?
No, it weighs 2.9 lb. Aluminum construction keeps it light enough for one tech to hold in place and start the screws, which matters on an open frame rack where there is nothing to rest it on during install.
8) What is the exact part number to order for this Eaton B-Line rack shelf?
Order Eaton B-Line part number SB747V2310AAL. It is the single sided solid rack mounted shelf in brushed aluminum, 3 mounting spaces tall, with #12-24 hardware in the box.
