B-LINE SB5772302FB – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will a B-Line SB5772302FB filler panel fit a standard 19 inch rack?
No. The SB5772302FB is built for a 23 inch rack width, so the mounting holes will not line up with a 19 inch EIA rack. If your open frame racks are 19 inch, you need the 19 inch version of the blank panel instead. The 23 inch width is common in telecom and broadcast open frame racks rather than general IT cabinets.
2) How many rack units does the B-Line SB5772302FB blank panel cover?
Two mounting spaces, which is 2U of vertical opening. The panel measures 3.44 inches high, sitting just inside the 3.5 inch nominal height of a 2U space so it drops in without binding on the panels above and below.
3) What mounting hardware do I need for this 23 inch blank rack panel?
It takes #12-24 mounting screws, which is the thread used on Eaton B-Line open frame racks. If your rack rails are tapped 10-32 instead, the screws will not thread, so confirm the rail tapping before ordering screws to go with the panel.
4) What is the exact part number to order this Eaton B-Line 23 inch 2U black blank panel?
Order it as Eaton B-Line SB5772302FB. That number covers the aluminum 2U blank filler panel in flat black powder coat for 23 inch open frame racks with #12-24 hardware. Give that full part number when standardizing blanks across a facility so every rack front matches.
5) Is the blank panel steel or aluminum, and does that matter for a rack full of equipment?
Aluminum, finished in flat black powder coat. At 1.41 lb for the 2U panel it adds almost nothing to the rack load, which matters when you are blanking off several openings in a tall open frame. Aluminum also will not rust in a damp equipment room the way an unpainted steel panel edge can.
6) What does a blank filler panel actually do in an open equipment rack?
It closes off unused mounting spaces so the rack front reads as a finished surface instead of an open gap. On open frame racks it is mostly about appearance, keeping hands and cables out of dead space, and giving you a flat face to label. This one is a 2U blank in a 23 inch width, aluminum with a flat black powder coat so it blends with black rack rails.
