Both. The N4830P is stainless steel with a white powder coated finish. The white coating is standard on back panels because it reflects light inside the enclosure and makes component layout and wire marking easier to read; the stainless substrate is what holds up in washdown and outdoor-rated installs.

Yes, the N4830P is part of the NEMA 3R panel line and carries a NEMA certification listing. Keep in mind the rating belongs to the enclosure assembly, not the interior panel on its own. A back panel does not seal anything, so the 3R protection against rain, sleet and external ice formation comes from the enclosure body, door and gasket it goes into.

Order Eaton B-Line N4830P. It is the white powder coated stainless back panel for a 48 x 30 enclosure, and it is a single catalog number with no handing, finish or size options to specify.

It comes in at 36.208 lb. That is a two-person lift once you are working at height or inside a mounted enclosure, since you have to line it up on the collar studs and start the nuts while holding it flat. On the bench, one person can manage it.

The N4830P is sold as the panel itself. Mounting hardware normally ships with the enclosure, which carries the welded collar studs and nuts the panel lands on, so check the enclosure carton before ordering separate fasteners. Nothing about the panel requires drilling the enclosure.

Yes, that is what a subpanel is for. You lay out contactors, terminal blocks, DIN rail and wireway on the flat stainless face and drill or tap as needed. Drill it out of the enclosure so chips do not land in the box, and touch up any bare edges, since cutting through the white powder coat exposes the substrate.
