The BMS-6SYZN spring nut is tapped M6 x 1, so it accepts M6 metric threaded rod, hex bolts, or set screws. It will not take 1/4-20 or any other inch thread, so if your rod and hangers are imperial you need the equivalent inch-tapped channel nut instead.

Yellow zinc chromate over steel is an indoor/protected-environment plating. It gives better corrosion resistance than plain steel for dry interior mechanical, electrical, and plumbing hangers, but for exposed exterior, wash-down, or coastal work you want a hot-dip galvanized or stainless channel nut instead.

The BMS-6SYZN is the nut only. It ships as a spring nut with its spring assembled, and you supply the M6 threaded rod or bolt and, for a rod drop, the fitting or hanger below it. No bolt, washer, or channel is included.

A plain nut has to be held in position inside the strut while you thread the bolt, which is awkward overhead. The spring on the BMS-6SYZN pushes the nut up against the channel lips and holds it where you set it, so you can place it one-handed on a ceiling or wall run and then drive the M6 bolt or rod. It is the standard choice for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing hanger work off strut.

Each nut measures 1.875 in by 1.375 in by .85 in high and weighs .099 lb. The .85 in height is the figure to watch in tight spaces, since that is the stack the spring and nut body occupy inside the channel before your bolt head or rod is added.

Certifications are shown as not applicable for the BMS-6SYZN spring nut. It is a plain steel, yellow zinc chromate plated M6 channel nut, so if your submittal requires a listed or certified fastener, specify the part by that requirement rather than assuming this one carries it.
