The BMS-6YZN channel nut is tapped M6 x 1, so it mates with M6 metric threaded rod, bolts and hanger hardware. It will not accept imperial 1/4-20 or 3/8-16 fasteners, so if your rod is inch-series you need a different nut from the series.

The spring on the BMS-6YZN is what separates it from a plain channel nut. Drop it into the channel slot, give it a quarter turn, and the spring pushes the nut body up against the inturned lips so it stays put at the point you set it while you bring the fitting and bolt in with your other hand. That matters on overhead runs where a plain nut simply falls down the channel.

Yellow zinc chromate over steel is a plated indoor finish. It handles normal dry interior conditions, mechanical rooms and concealed ceiling spaces fine, but it is not a wet-location or corrosive-environment coating. For exterior runs, parking structures or wash-down areas, specify a hot dip galvanized or stainless channel nut instead.

It measures 1.875 x 1.375 x .85 inches and weighs .099 lb each. The .85 inch height includes the spring, which is what you need to account for when checking clearance inside a shallow channel, and the 1.375 inch dimension is the one that sits across the channel lips.

The BMS-6YZN is the nut only. You supply the M6 bolt or threaded rod, any washer, and the clamp, strap or fitting being attached, plus the strut channel itself. Match every fastener in the assembly to M6 x 1 so the threads engage.

Steel, with a yellow zinc chromate plating over it. It is a plated carbon steel nut, not stainless, so keep it to dry interior electrical and mechanical work.
